Construction of Triple Lane Cricket Practice Area and Perimeter Fence at a sports club in Ilkley
Location: Ben Rhydding, West Yorkshire
Brief: Ben Rhydding Cricket Club approached R Dawson Architect to obtain planning permission to replace the existing practice net with a new triple lane practice facility. The club had an astro turf practice lane in the middle of the cricket square. When playing a match it couldn’t be used for practice or warm up.
Solution: R Dawson worked with the client and Notts Sport, the preferred supplier to design and locate practice area within the existing sports ground.
A pre-application meeting was arranged with planning and a planning application submitted. It is a facility which complies with the ECB requirements, fully accessible and with level access. As this is green belt land and close to the River Wharfe, a flood risk analysis under PPG25 was required in line with planning policy. Notts Sport completed the work at a cost £45000 in March 2011.
